I am currently a volunteer at two organizations which specialize in making recordings for people who are visually- and/or learning-challenged: Learning Ally (formerly Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic) in Palo Alto, which makes recordings that are posted online for students to use for their classes, and Books Aloud, which is based at the Martin Luther King Library at San Jose State University, and specializes in recordings of novels and children's books. At Books Aloud, I have recorded books ranging from murder mysteries to young people's fantasy books, and I even did a collection of fishing-trip photographs by Henry Winkler. I enjoy my work at both places, because it gives me a chance to use my talents in a way that helps others who need extra help. I am also still involved with the Sunday night Masses at Queen of Apostles Church, where I read, serve as a Eucharistic Minister and occasionally sing with one of the Liturgical groups.
